“They Wanted Me To Sign” – Young Player Makes Wolves Claim

|

I’m not sure I remember the name Alhassan Yusuf from the rumour mill during the summer transfer window, but the 19-year-old midfielder has recently made a claim that Wolverhampton Wanderers were interested in securing his services over the summer.

Speaking to Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen, the Nigerian youngster confirmed that Wolves had made contact with him two days before the deadline was about to slam shut and we wanted him to ‘fly over’ to sign a deal with us, but there were complications with him acquiring a visa, so ultimately the deal fell down.

“They wanted me to sign a deal and lend me back to IFK Goteborg, but to be completely honest, I don’t know how close it is now. If it happens, it happens.”

He has 26 appearances for IFK Goteborg in the season of 2019/20, returning just two goals according to Soccerbase so given his age and stats, I think it’s pretty clear given the loan mention, any interest we did have in him was with a mind to our Under 23 setup as another capture potentially for the future, but if his words are right, it doesn’t overly sound like we’ve continued to express an interest in him ahead of the January window.
